The Caretaker
The Caretaker
This short task designed to help us establish basic filming techniques which we required for our coursework of the thriller opening. The film is about a caretaker who had become severely depressed and lonely after the death of his brother. Following this, he had developed schizophrenia which takes over his life causing him to behave different to normal. The murder of his brother occurred during a walk in which the caretaker and his brother were approached unprovoked, and were asked for their possessions. The caretaker cooperated while his brother refused causing him to get stabbed by the thieves. This scene was to be filmed but we did not have enough time to organise this, along with the actors who were not available during this time.
The caretaker had been controlling his illness by taking pills, however he felt he did not require taking his pills after gaining the caretaker position at a school. This new found light in his life quickly disappears as a 'new friend' appears, driving him to believe that various students at the school had been responsible of his brother's death. His choice of weapons included the Common Room knives.
